Meet the Owners

Oscar Rodriguez

Oscar Lead TrainerOwner / Manager / Lead Trainer

Originally from Miami, Oscar has been involved in sport and fitness as a way of life from an early age.  Through his mentors, he excelled in wrestling in high school and at   Michigan State University. In college Oscar was able to coach a youth wrestling program. He helped each child to perfect their wrestling technique and give them motivation to train for success. The children were so happy to have someone to help and that’s when he knew he wanted to be a coach/trainer.

After college Oscar joined the U.S. Navy and was deployed to the Persian Gulf on the USS Nimitz.  While serving his country, he saw himself again in a position to help. His fellow sailors would approach him with fitness questions.  Eventually, he became the physical fitness trainer of his command designing the workouts and programs.

The Navy brought him to sunny San Diego. Oscar decided to stay and become a personal and group fitness trainer and youth wrestling coach.

In addition, Oscar volunteers at Hoover high school as a wrestling and strength & conditioning coach. He feels it’s a way to for him give back by helping young students achieve success just like he did.

“My intention is to keep each workout new and interesting but always focusing on our goal to a healthier life through proper training and nutrition guidance.”

Meet Brad and Cindy

Practitioners of Fitness and Yoga since 1997, Brad and Cindy Bennett share a vision of health and wellness, which makes them ideal owners of a community Fitness studio. In the summer of 2002, the couple opened Ginseng Yoga studio in the charming South Park neighborhood of San Diego.
As a former personal trainer, Cindy was especially fond of the idea of helping people make fitness and wellness an everyday part of their lives. She is also able to contribute greatly to the scheduling aspects of the studio w/ her years of event planning experience; she also incorporates her Fashion Merchandising/Business degree in Ginseng’s lifestyle boutique. Cindy LOVES people and this is evident the moment you walk into the studio. In fact, every staff member is eager to provide clients with the best possible customer service.

Brad spent the last 10 years in the Fitness industry helping others with their Fitness and Nutritional Goals. “Cindy introduced me to Yoga as a way of managing some of the sports injuries (life) I’ve incurred over the years. Yoga, along with Functional Training, really helps me to be able to continue to surf, hike, run and more.

The Next Step:

It only made sense that they would expand their passion and experience by opening G-Fit, located across the street from Ginseng.
Outside of their time spent at the studio, the Bennetts’ number one priority is family time spent with their daughter and enjoying life’s simpler side. Hiking, quality time with good friends, surfing and tennis are among the activities they regularly enjoy.
